India-Kenya Foreign Office Consultations

1. H. E. Mr. Amar Sinha, Secretary Ministry of External Affairs and H. E. Mr. Tom Amolo, Political and Diplomatic Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Kenya co-chaired the first India-Kenya Foreign Office Consultations in Nairobi on 22 June 2016. Mr. Amar Sinha also called on H.E. Ms. Raychelle Omamo, Cabinet Secretary for Defence.  

2. The consultations reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. India is one of Kenya's largest trading and investment partners. Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation in economic, commercial, agriculture, health, defence, security, education, tourism sectors. The Indian side reiterated their commitment to continue with developmental assistance including through extension of Lines of Credit. It was also agreed to enhance capacity building programmes through India's flagship programme - Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) as well as scholarship to Indian universities.

3. India and Kenya enjoy the long-standing close and friendly ties. India's engagement with Kenya hasbeen robust and multi-faceted. India and Kenya share common views on issues of regional and global interest and cooperate closely in regional and multi-lateral fora.
